Challenges galore

First up we have this week’s FairyDoodler combined with CPS 201 sketch and Crafty Purple Frog – which this week is distressing – love this image :-)

The paper is from a pack of My Mind’s Eye paper called Wild Asparagus, the sentiment is a left over from an old issue of LMC and I used a ColorBox Fluid Chalk Inkpad to distress the image, sentiment and paper.

Next up is Designed to Delight‘s fabulous cupcake combined with Simon Says Bingo with with glitter, gems and ribbon! The paper is from an old DCWV pad … I have been rooting in my drawers – can you tell?

Close up of the cupcake with glitter, gems and ribbon:

Finally Crafty Creations have a challenge combining birds, polka dots and green and My Time to Craft is Spots and Dots!: back to the pack of Wild Asparagus My Mind’s Eye paper, combined with my Swiss dots embossing folder and an image which I’m afraid I don’t have the provenance of :-(

Wedding card

Thought I’d go for something a little bit different to all the pastels etc etc for the Cup Cake Craft Challenge this week where the theme is weddings … I used a HOTP white heart brad with a bit of scrap paper and then used my bug to emboss divine swirls onto two contrasting pieces of card to tie in with the swirls in the top of the heart. Mounted on a Christmas blank it looks quite effective IMHO! Could double up as an anniversary card or even a Valentine card although I don’t sell many of them for my charities. I like cards that can do several things!

DPDC5

The challenge theme for DPDC5 over at Doodle Pantry Challenge blog is  to USE A DOODLE PANTRY IMAGE and at Pollycraft the challenge is to use pastel colors.  I have used this fab free sentiment from Doodle Pantry with a scrap of paper that had been knocking around for a bit (can’t remember the name of the paper I’m afraid) and a beautiful Henbury Lane Butterfly. I like these butterflies but they are felt and very difficult to stick and give some depth … so I am now covered in silicon glue. There is a die-cut out there that I may invest in as card butterflies are easier than felt! The colours don’t show too well … gone a bit pink … must research how to photograph my cards better!

Christmas Card Challenges #7

Over at Christmas Card Challenges challenge #7 is a sketch … and here’s my card – slightly different to the sketch as the background to the robin looked a bit silly with something sticking out at the side. The robin is recycled from one of our cards, as well as the sentiment :-)

Here’s the sketch it was based on

Designed to delight challenge

This week’s challenge over at D2D was to use the ‘Love Ewe’ set of digital images. I experimented colouring the white sheep by just using my ‘dirty grey’ Whisper pen (not its official colour name but I know what I mean by it!) to just outline all the edges of the sheep’s wool in the images. I coloured the heart and then added a very pale green to the grass. Then had a root through my papers and found this spotty paper that picked out the grey and red really well. Edged the sentiment and the image with the same red as the heart and mounted with sticky fixers. Another quick and simple card :-)

Fairy Doodler and Papercrafting Journey Challenge

The free image over at Fairydoodler’s den this week is just perfect for teenage male cards :-) I printed off the black and white image and then went to cut it out with my new Nestie label dies. Discovered that it was ‘slightly’ too big an image so just had to trim a little bit off the bottom so that I could use the slightly bigger die to make a border. It actually looked quite good when finished as the colouring went right to the edge :-) I used a complementary coloured card blank and then coloured peel off sentiments to match the border and the hat colour. Nice and quick and easy so my back didn’t complain too much! I’m also entering this one in another new challenge blog over at Papercrafting Journey, which is to use a digital image.

:-((

Was gonna have a cardmaking session today but my back is playing up so shall content myself with some painkillers and a session of cutting up old cards to recycle …

Chocolatey

Got this gorgeous cupcake and roses from Designed2Delight digital stamps and have used it to enter both the challenge (using the digital stamp) at their Designed2Delight blog and the new Bearly Mine challenge blog‘s first ever challenge!

Bearly Mine’s challenge is a sketch:

I used papers downloaded from Bearly Mine Designs and pink card from my stash. I coloured the roses to match the darker pink paper but in a matching tone to the lighter papers using my Whispers pens. I then coloured the cupcake to match using Whispers pens and Promarkers for the case and candle. I added Glossy accents to the cake to make the icing look really chocolatey! The sentiment is a freebie from Doodle Pantry.

Three in one

Here we have a three in one challenge entry … Simon Says time to party/celebrate, Cupcake Craft is white is white and finally the image I’ve used is a Fairy Doodler Friday freebie so I have entered it in their challenge of course!

I used white pearlescent card, embossed via the cuttlebug and then added black card to the top edge, which I then covered with white organza ribbon and added a peel-off. The image is outlined in grey (magnifying glass required!) and the grass coloured a pale green and then cut out and edged in silver to give some definition against the pearl card and to match the peel-off. I had to use flash for this one and it has made everything look rather more silver than white, especially the ribbon – but without the flash it all looked rather dirty yellow!
