Final posting for today …

This was a card I did for the last Sketch Saturday challenge but couldn’t access their blog to leave a note for the entry :-( so didn’t bother to post until now. I found myself very limited by the need for differing size circles … gonna have to add nestabilities and a machine to use them in to my wish list!

I might have a go at this weeks sketch for my step sister’s card – see if inspiration strikes :-)

Lots To Do challenge

I was hoping to enter my step sister’s 50th card for this but as inspiration is low I will instead enter the card I made for her son who is 16 the day before her birthday!!!

He’s in the ATC and wants to go into the RAF when he leaves school. He loves flying so this is the card I made for his 16th birthday:

The backing paper is some wrapping paper that I got in Tescos a while back – rest is from bits and bobs in my stash. I found the quote and picture online.

CPS Sketch 82/This Thursday challenge

I’m at a loss for inspiration for my step sister’s 50th card and for hubby’s card so having a go at some more challenges while I wait for it to return …

Here’s the sketch for CPS Sketch 82

and the brief on This Thursday is

This week is all about “The stashbuster raid” We want you to reach into the back of your stash cupboards and bring out those long forgotten, or long saved papers and bits and pieces to create this weeks callenge entry or entries. I know that when i looked back through my stash I found many long forgotten bits and pieces.

I had finished the card for the CPS challenge when I realised that it also fulfilled the This Thursday challenge so a two in one!!!

Here’s the card:

Dottie Challenge

Dottie’s Wonderful World challenge this week is a music theme – Going for a song:

All you have to do along with using a Charmed download, is incorporate the words of a song or the title of a song into your card but you’re not allowed ‘happy birthday’ or ‘congratulations’ for your song, I know I said easy but that’s a step too far along the easy road!

It doesn’t take much to get me to burst into song (as many of my friends and family will testify!) and I had coloured this Dottie in while loitering waiting for my son at orchestra practice on Saturday. The title that I chose was always going to be pretty obvious!!!

and with flash

This uses Papermania paper (closest i could get to clouds!) and then tracing paper which I printed the words onto from MS WORD, overlaid with some scrap acetate from a magazine cover and then lashings of glitter glue!!!

Quotation challenge

Another challenge – this time at daring cardmakers:

So for my dare I’d like to see what happens when our starting point is the same quotation:
Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best.
Henry Van Dyke

I’d like you to use this quotation somewhere on your card It doesn’t have to be on the front, or even need to be immediately visible. You could perhaps print it on vellum, add it on a tag, put it inside the card, or chop it up and use all the words “ransom note” style. I’ve chosen this quotation because I think we sometimes need reminding that everyone is special in their own way, and everyone, without exception has a talent to bring to the world – we should all value our own talents and those of other people more than we do

Here’s my card – not easy to see but I used my Sakurs white gloss pen to go over the white on the backing paper. If the ribbon looks a little skew and off centre it’s cos the bird was actually on the right of the page and I had to trim and fit the paper to get it where I wanted – the ribbon covers the join!!! The birds are from an old poster – hubby was keen birdwatcher. The backing paper is from Dovecraft Designer Papers – Kate Knight – Aqua 12 x 12

Layers of Colour challenge – apples

I’ve been reading this blog for ages but not entered any of their challenges – mainly cos they tend to involve stamps and I’m not too good at them, nor do i have a huge selection. But I had a go at this one. The challenge?

September, back to school, teachers…and apples. The fruit that: is given to a teacher as a gift, has dozen’s of health benefits, is the focus of hundreds of historical facts and folklore stories, and has thousands of varieties! So let’s use this popular fruit, and at least one stamp, in our artwork this week. I look forward to seeing your tasty entries!

I immediately thought of Proverbs 25:11 – I’ve been reading Proverbs recently and so this was fresh in my memory.  Where else are words so ‘aptly spoken’ into our children’s lives than at school – a good :-) (or bad :-( ) teacher can make all the difference to our children’s lives, thoughts and views.

The card?
